Gateway Church Names New Senior Pastors After Morris Resignation

Gateway Church in Southlake has appointed Daniel Floyd and his wife, Tammie Floyd, as the new senior pastors nearly a year after founder Robert Morris resigned amid child sexual abuse allegations. The Floyds, who are leaving their roles at Lifepoint Church in Virginia, bring experience from founding and leading a megachurch with multiple locations and will begin their leadership at Gateway in August. Robert Morris resigned after being indicted on charges related to molestation of a child in the 1980s and has been involved in legal disputes with the church over compensation and intellectual property rights. The Gateway elders emphasized a careful and extended search process to select a leader with ethics and humility to guide the church into a new chapter. Daniel Floyd expressed that the move is a sacred calling and highlighted his prayerful consideration and the support of Gateway's elders during the transition. The leadership change aims to restore confidence and advance the church's mission following a difficult period marked by Morris' scandal and subsequent leadership departures.
