Three Men Sentenced for Coach's Murder in NJ

Three men, Eugene Cosby, Will El-Bey, and Clifton Bailey, were sentenced for the 2018 murder of Joseph Jones, a youth football coach, in the parking lot of Lakeside Middle School in New Jersey. Jones was shot ten times after a football practice, and the crime was witnessed by children and parents. The trio and others traveled from Carver Village Apartments to the school, and following the murder, they attempted to dispose of the vehicles and recruit false witnesses. Cosby was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 63 years and an additional five years for witness tampering. El-Bey received 40 years with a minimum of 34 years plus eight years for bribing witnesses, while Bailey received 60 years with a minimum of 51 years and five for hindering apprehension. The three men, convicted of first-degree murder and other offenses, were arrested in October and November 2018, with three other co-defendants pleading guilty to related charges.
