Kathryn Dennis Begins 30-Day Jail Sentence, Sued

Former Southern Charm star Kathryn Dennis was convicted in her DUI case and began serving a 30-day sentence at the Berkeley County jail after being taken into custody Friday evening. The conviction stems from a May 20, 2024 three-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 52 in Goose Creek, where bystanders and officers reported the smell of alcohol, glossy eyes, and found mini bottles of Fireball and an empty pink tumbler in her vehicle. Authorities say Dennis refused a breathalyzer, performed poorly on field sobriety tests, and later admitted at the detention center and hospital that she had been drinking earlier; dashcam and incident footage captured signs of impairment and an emotional breakdown. She now faces a civil lawsuit alleging negligence and willful recklessness for causing the chain-reaction collision that struck Larry Patrick Griffin’s Honda. Dennis has a documented history of substance-abuse struggles, including rehab and losing custody of her children, and left Southern Charm in 2023 after eight seasons.
