Kelly Cates to Replace Gary Lineker on BBC

Kelly Cates is set to join the BBC's Match of the Day as one of three new presenters, replacing Gary Lineker, who will step down after 25 years at the end of the current season. Cates, daughter of former Liverpool footballer Kenny Dalglish, has been with Sky Sports since 2017 and also presents for BBC Radio 5 Live. Alongside Cates, Mark Chapman and Gabby Logan will share hosting duties for both Match of the Day and Match of the Day 2. While the BBC hasn't officially confirmed the changes, Cates' departure from Sky Sports has been acknowledged. Lineker has expressed that it's the right time for a new direction for the show, which may include a greater digital focus in the future. His continued role will include coverage of the FA Cup and the 2026 World Cup.
