Hokato Hotozhe Sema, a landmine-blast survivor, won the bronze medal in the men's F57 shot put event at the Paris Paralympics with a career-best throw of 14.65 meters. The 40-year-old para-athlete from Nagaland improved throughout the competition, starting with a throw of 13.88m and achieving his best on his fourth attempt, surpassing his previous personal best of 14.49m. Iranian athlete Yasin Khosravi won gold with a throw of 15.96m, setting a new Paralympic record, while Brazil's Thiago Paulino dos Santos took silver with 15.06m. Sema's achievement marks his first Paralympic medal, adding to his previous bronze at the Hangzhou Para Games. Fellow Indian athlete Soman Rana finished fifth with a best throw of 14.07m, unable to replicate his prior success. With Sema's win, India has now secured a total of 27 medals at the 2024 Paralympics, including six gold, nine silver, and 12 bronze.
