Kasperi Kapanen Out Several Weeks With Knee Injury
Kasperi Kapanen exited Sunday’s game against Detroit with a knee injury and is expected to miss several weeks—potentially up to six—coach Kris Knoblauch said, so he will not be available Tuesday in Ottawa. His final shift came at the start of the second period and the team says the injury may have occurred after a missed hit and collision with the boards. Kapanen has two assists in six games while averaging roughly 12–13 minutes per night. The Oilers plan a second-line shuffle with Andrew Mangiapane, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Jack Roslovic, while David Tomasek or Curtis Lazar could also fill in. Edmonton has dropped three straight and sits 2–3–1 amid other absences (Zach Hyman, Mattias Janmark and Alex Regula), though defenseman Jake Walman is expected to return.
