North Carolina Accountant Arrested for Shooting at Trump Supporter Over Flag Dispute

Benjamin Michael Campbell, a 37-year-old married accountant from Atlanta, has been arrested for allegedly firing gunshots at the home of Mark Thomas, a 62-year-old Trump supporter in Nantahala Gorge, North Carolina. The incident began when Campbell, reportedly wearing an Antifa-style mask, stopped abruptly after seeing a Trump banner on Thomas's property, tore down the sign, and then fired multiple rounds at the house. Thomas, who owns a river rafting business, armed himself with a rifle and fired warning shots to deter Campbell, but the attacker continued his assault before fleeing. Campbell faces charges including assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury, discharging a firearm within an enclosure to incite fear, and willful and wanton injury to personal property. Surveillance footage was pivotal in identifying and arresting Campbell, who was over 150 miles from his home during the attack and whose motives remain unclear.
