Real Madrid is preparing a detailed dossier to submit to FIFA, highlighting refereeing controversies from the current 2025-26 La Liga season as well as the previous one. The club's official channel, Real Madrid TV, has been vocal about contentious decisions, particularly the direct red card given to defender Dean Huijsen in their recent 2-1 win over Real Sociedad, which they argue was unjustified given that a teammate was covering the play. Additional grievances include disallowed goals involving Kylian Mbappé and other refereeing decisions perceived as biased or erroneous. While FIFA typically does not intervene in domestic league refereeing, Real Madrid aims to formally document these incidents to pressure referees and federations to exercise greater caution. Club president Florentino Pérez and head coach Xabi Alonso have openly criticized what they consider a pattern of unfavorable officiating against the team. This move follows a history of public criticism from Real Madrid toward Spanish football authorities and is intended to put international scrutiny on refereeing standards in Spain.
