Amazon MGM Studios Hires Former Netflix Exec Peter Friedlander as Head of Global TV

Amazon MGM Studios has appointed Peter Friedlander, a long-time Netflix scripted TV executive, as its new head of global television, effective October 6. Friedlander succeeds Vernon Sanders and will oversee Amazon MGM's original U.S. TV projects as well as global tentpole titles, MGM Television, and MGM Alternative. His distinguished Netflix tenure included hits like Wednesday, Bridgerton, Emily in Paris, The Queen's Gambit, and Stranger Things, and he was Netflix's first dedicated original series employee. Friedlander’s hiring is part of a broader reorganization at Amazon MGM Studios following several recent executive departures and new leadership appointments. Mike Hopkins, head of Amazon MGM Studios and Prime Video, expressed enthusiasm for Friedlander's arrival and his readiness to lead from day one. Prior to Netflix, Friedlander worked with Playtone and contributed to notable productions such as Big Love and feature films including Road to Perdition.
