Drones Strike Oil Depots in Tula, Kaluga Regions

On January 17, 2025, a drone attack targeted the Lyudinovskoye oil depot in the Kaluga region of Russia, causing a fire, as confirmed by local governor Vladislav Shapsha. This facility, part of the Kaluganefteprodukt company, had previously been struck by drones in April 2024 and November 2024. The following night, January 18, drones attacked multiple locations in the Tula region, resulting in explosions and fires at an oil depot in Uzlova, also reported by local officials. Governor Dmitry Milyaev confirmed the incidents, stating that firefighting teams were deployed but there were no casualties. The Russian Defense Ministry claimed that many drones were intercepted during these attacks, although local sources indicated significant damage to industrial facilities. These drone strikes are part of an ongoing pattern of UAV attacks that have escalated since the start of the conflict in Ukraine, although the Ukrainian government has not officially acknowledged direct involvement in such strikes.
