K'naan, the Somali-Canadian rapper famous for his hit 'Wavin' Flag,' has been charged with sexual assault in Quebec City, stemming from an alleged incident in July 2010. The singer, whose real name is Keinan Abdi Warsame, entered a not-guilty plea during a court appearance, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for April 2025. The allegations were made by a woman in her twenties, who filed a complaint in May 2022, years after the incident occurred. Despite this legal challenge, K'naan received accolades this week for the cultural impact of 'Wavin' Flag,' which was the anthem for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
