Arkansas Plans New Field Rush Policy to Avoid $500K SEC Fines

The University of Arkansas Athletics announced a new field rushing policy for the 2025-2026 season to comply with the Southeastern Conference's updated rule, which imposes a $500,000 fine for each field rushing incident across all sports. The policy introduces a three-minute delay displayed on the videoboards at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium after a "momentous win," allowing the visiting team, staff, and officials to exit the field safely before fans are permitted to rush the field. Arkansas has faced multiple fines for field rushing, including $250,000 last season following an upset win against Tennessee, contributing to a total of $700,000 in fines since 2021. SEC commissioner Greg Sankey noted that the previous escalating fine structure was ineffective, prompting the stricter flat fine. Athletics Director Hunter Yurachek emphasized that the policy prioritizes the safety of both home and visiting student-athletes and expects fan compliance to avoid further penalties. The Razorbacks begin their 2025 season against Alabama A&M on August 30, with the new policy set to be enforced starting then.
