IU Indianapolis Names Ben Howlett New Men’s Basketball Coach

Indiana University Indianapolis (IU Indy) has hired Ben Howlett as the new head coach of its men's basketball program, replacing Paul Corsaro who was fired after one season due to allegations of player mistreatment. Howlett comes from Division II West Liberty University, where he compiled an impressive 217-37 record over eight seasons, leading his teams to eight consecutive Mountain East Conference titles and NCAA Tournament appearances, including a national runner-up finish in 2023. Known for coaching an up-tempo, high-scoring style dubbed 'The System,' Howlett's teams averaged over 100 points per game last season and ranked among Division II leaders in scoring, assists, and turnover margin. IU Indy finished last season with a 10-24 record, and the program hopes Howlett's winning pedigree and leadership qualities will revitalize the team and improve its culture. Athletic director Luke Bosso praised Howlett's leadership and mentoring abilities, emphasizing his intense yet connected coaching style.
