Midtown Manhattan Shooting Leaves Multiple Dead, Injured

A mass shooting in a Midtown Manhattan skyscraper left at least four or five people dead, including an off-duty police officer working security and the gunman, a 27-year-old from Las Vegas with an expired private investigator license who died from an apparent self-inflicted injury. The shooting occurred in a building that houses the NFL and Blackstone offices, with the assailant using a high-powered or silenced rifle. Several others were injured, including at least one person in critical condition. Police and FBI responded quickly, securing the area around Park Avenue and East 51st Street and urging the public to avoid the vicinity during the emergency. Mayor Eric Adams and Governor Kathy Hochul issued public safety warnings and expressed condolences to the victims’ families.
