New Mexico Police Arrest Texas Kidnapping Suspects

New Mexico State Police arrested two suspects, Qwaunice Tippitt and Charles Jones, on November 16 for allegedly kidnapping Tippitt's five children from Texas. The successful apprehension was facilitated by an Automatic License Plate Recognition system, which helped locate their vehicle at a Love's Travel Stop in Lordsburg, New Mexico. The children were found safe and are now in the custody of Texas Child Protective Services, who are coordinating their return to Texas. Tippitt is facing five counts of kidnapping and was wanted out of Bexar County, Texas. The case underscores the pivotal role of technology in law enforcement, according to New Mexico State Police Chief Troy Weisler. Both suspects are awaiting extradition back to Texas to face charges.
