Park Fire in California Nears 45% Containment
The Coffeepot Fire in Sequoia National Park, California, has expanded to 100 acres after initially being contained, due to a tree rolling over containment lines. Meanwhile, the Park Fire, California's largest wildfire this year, has burned 429,623 acres with a containment level of 45% as firefighters manage to hold it within control lines despite challenging weather conditions. The Park Fire, suspected to be started by arson, has devastated 641 structures primarily in Butte and Tehama counties. Another fire, the Crozier Fire in El Dorado County, is 84% contained, while the Boise Fire in Humboldt County continues to burn with zero containment. Evacuation orders remain in effect for areas affected by the Park Fire, although some regions are beginning to repopulate. More than 5,400 firefighters are actively working on containment efforts across the various wildfires.
