Two Officers Charged in Youth Detention Abuse

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has requested a federal investigation by the FBI into two detention officers accused of sexually assaulting minors at the Montgomery Youth Detention Facility. One officer, Kentavious Miller, faces charges of sexual abuse against a 14-year-old, while another officer, Labradford Jamell Armistead, is charged with seven counts of first-degree sodomy related to assaults on a different 14-year-old between mid-October and late November. The investigation commenced after the facility director reported the allegations, leading to arrests of both officers. Sheriff Derrick Cunningham expressed his deep concern over the situation, emphasizing the importance of accountability for those in positions of trust. Both officers have since been terminated from their positions, with Miller released on bond and Armistead remaining detained. The investigation seeks to address potential civil rights violations and ensure justice for the victims.
