Fever Take Game 1, Mitchell Scores 34
The Indiana Fever stunned the Las Vegas Aces 89-73 in Game 1 of the WNBA semifinals, with Kelsey Mitchell scoring 34 points to give Indiana a 1-0 series lead. A’ja Wilson, fresh off her fourth MVP, was limited (6-of-22) as Indiana’s defense disrupted Las Vegas’ offense. Indiana’s roster remains heavily depleted by multiple season-ending injuries — including Caitlin Clark, Chloe Bibby, Sydney Colson, Sophie Cunningham and Aari McDonald — and Lexie Hull was listed questionable with a back injury that could leave the Fever with as few as nine available players for Game 2. Veteran Odyssey Sims, on a hardship contract, has emerged as the starting point guard and key playmaker in the postseason. Injured ex-Ace Sydney Colson has been helping with scouting insights, and both teams’ coaches signaled adjustments ahead of Game 2.
