Clark County School District Appoints New Deputy Superintendents

The Clark County School District (CCSD) Board of School Trustees has approved contracts for Felicia Gonzales and Dr. Jesse Welsh to serve as Deputy Superintendents, aiming to strengthen the district's leadership team. Gonzales, a Las Vegas native and former Associate Superintendent for CCSD, will serve as Deputy Superintendent of Business Operations, bringing extensive experience including her previous role as Deputy Superintendent of the Nevada Department of Education and as founding principal of the Southwest Career and Technical Academy. Welsh, who will be Deputy Superintendent of Teaching and Learning, has a long history with CCSD in various leadership positions and was most recently CEO at Nevada State High School, as well as a former superintendent in Arizona. Superintendent Jhone Ebert expressed enthusiasm about their return, citing their deep knowledge of PK-12 education and leadership skills as vital assets for the district. Their appointments come at a critical time as CCSD seeks to enhance its educational framework and empower educators. Both leaders are expected to provide stability and expertise to help meet the district’s ongoing challenges.
