London-Based Laka Raises $10.4M Series B to Propel European Green Mobility Insurance Growth

London-based insurtech company Laka has raised $10.4 million in a Series B funding round co-led by Shift4Good and MS&AD Ventures to accelerate its path to profitability and expand its role as a leader in green mobility insurance across nine EU countries and the UK. Laka offers a collective-driven insurance model for e-bikes, e-scooters, and other sustainable transport options, charging customers based on actual claims rather than upfront premiums, which has earned the company multiple awards and over 80,000 users. The funding will be used to invest in team growth, improve operational efficiency, and support further acquisitions, including recent deals such as acquiring Allianz Direct’s Luko e-scooter portfolio and expanding into the UK and French markets. Laka aims to challenge traditional insurance by eliminating long-term contracts, offering zero excess, and aligning interests between riders, retailers, and insurers with a customer-centric approach that has helped it consolidate the fragmented micromobility insurance market. The company is also preparing to complete a debt financing agreement to support its acquisition strategy and may pursue an additional funding round in 2025 targeting strategic investors. CEO Tobias Taupitz highlighted that the new financing marks a pivotal moment in solidifying trust with partners and riders while deepening Laka’s category-defining position in Europe’s green mobility insurance sector.
