The ruling BJP in Haryana has released its second list of 21 candidates for the upcoming October 5 assembly elections, dropping seven sitting MLAs, including two ministers, as part of a strategy to counter anti-incumbency. Notably, Capt Yogesh Bairagi will contest against Congress's Vinesh Phogat in the Julana constituency. The party has now announced 87 candidates for the 90-member assembly, with three seats still pending. This move follows the BJP's initial list that already excluded several incumbents, leading to internal discontent within the party ranks. Among the dropped candidates is state president Mohan Lal Badoli, who opted out of the contest, and the only female minister, Seema Trikha, who was replaced by Dhanesh Adlakha. The Aam Aadmi Party is also actively fielding candidates, having announced 40 names in response to failed seat-sharing talks with Congress.
