Man Charged With Attempted Murder After Gedling Stabbing
Simon McHugh, 45, has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a bladed article after stabbing a man in his 30s multiple times outside a Co-op in Gedling. The victim sustained serious injuries and remains hospitalized. McHugh was also charged with burglary and theft of a motor vehicle following the theft of car keys and a car from a nearby address shortly after the stabbing. Additionally, he faces six charges related to separate incidents in Derbyshire on May 5, including false imprisonment, assault by beating, possession of a knife blade, and making threats to kill. McHugh, from Harrogate Road, Carlton, remains in police custody and is scheduled to appear before Nottingham Magistrates' Court. The police established a significant cordon at the scene, and investigations are ongoing.
