Woody Guthrie Home Recordings Collection Announced

A newly restored posthumous collection, 'Woody at Home: Volumes 1 & 2', will be released on August 14, 2025, featuring 22 previously unreleased home recordings by Woody Guthrie, including 13 never-before-heard tracks and three spoken word interludes. Highlights include Guthrie's only known recording of 'Deportee (Plane Wreck at Los Gatos)' and a new version of 'This Land Is Your Land' with additional verses. The recordings, made in his Brooklyn apartment between 1951 and 1952, capture not only his music but also the sounds of his home life. These tracks have been preserved and restored using modern audio technology. The collection also includes previously unpublished family photographs, artwork, and lyric sheets. The release is seen as a significant cultural and historical event, offering an intimate look into Guthrie's creative process and enduring legacy.
