U.S. Marine Arrested for Kidnapping, Sexual Assault of 12-Year-Old Indiana Girl
William Richard Roy, a 24-year-old active-duty U.S. Marine from Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, was arrested for allegedly kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl from Hammond, Indiana. The investigation began when the girl's grandmother reported her missing, and authorities learned she was traveling with Roy. Roy allegedly flew to Chicago, traveled to Hammond where he met the girl at a park, then took her back to Chicago, staying overnight at a hotel before boarding a Greyhound bus to Durham, North Carolina. Upon the bus's arrival, FBI agents arrested Roy and safely recovered the girl. Roy faces federal charges including enticement of a minor to travel for illicit sexual activity, transportation of a minor to engage in illicit sexual activity, and interstate travel with intent to engage in a sexual act with a minor. The case remains under active investigation by multiple FBI field offices with assistance from local police and the U.S. Marshals Service.
