Lackawanna College Plans Three Skilled Trade Centers Pennsylvania
Lackawanna College, based in Scranton, is expanding its presence in Pennsylvania by opening three new satellite centers in Bethlehem, Chambersburg, and Greensburg focused on skilled trades. These centers will offer associate degree programs in welding and fabrication technology, with additional programs in carpentry, construction technology, and electrical technology, notably launching the electrical program in Greensburg in fall 2026. Certificate programs and other degree offerings such as HVAC are planned for future introduction at all locations. The expansions are approved by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, with courses expected to begin as early as spring 2026 pending U.S. Department of Education approval. The initiative aims to address the growing demand for skilled workers in trades across Pennsylvania, providing students with accessible pathways to career success in their hometowns. This growth follows Lackawanna's recent merger with Peirce College, enhancing its educational reach.
