BJP Leader Arrested for Molesting Minor

Bhagwat Singh Bora, a block chief of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Almora district, Uttarakhand, was arrested for allegedly molesting a 14-year-old girl. The incident reportedly occurred on August 24, but the complaint was only filed on August 30, leading to his arrest on Saturday night while he was attempting to evade law enforcement. Following his arrest, the BJP expelled Bora from the party, with state president Mahendra Bhatt condemning the incident as 'very unfortunate' and emphasizing a 'zero tolerance' policy towards crimes against women. The case has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and related sections of the law. In response, opposition Congress leaders criticized the BJP government for allowing such atrocities to occur, alleging a lack of accountability among its members. The girl's medical examination has been conducted as part of the investigation.
