Markets Mixed After Monday Rally

U.S. equity markets turned mixed later in the week after a strong Monday session: on Monday the S&P 500 rose 1.07% to 6,735.13 and the Dow Jones gained 1.12% to 46,706.58. By Wednesday the S&P had fallen 0.53% to 6,699.40 and the Dow dropped 0.71% to 46,590.41, while another session saw the S&P essentially unchanged at 6,735.35 and the Dow up 0.47%. Individual movers included Pool Corp. (+1.33% to $294.07), Steel Dynamics (+2.47% to $146.28) and American Water Works (+1.13% to $145.43) on Monday, while later-session weakness affected Illumina (−1.75% to $97.23) and CVS (−1.24% to $82.01); Corteva rallied 1.86% to $63.12 but remained about 18.46% below its 52-week high, and Avery Dennison rose 2.05% to $163.53 for a third straight gain.
