13-Year-Old Dies in Mt. Bachelor Snowboarding Crash
A 13-year-old boy from Anacortes, Washington, tragically died after crashing into a tree while snowboarding at Mt. Bachelor Ski Resort on April 9. He was reported missing in the morning and later found unresponsive by the ski patrol in a wooded area near the Sunrise chairlift. Despite wearing a helmet and receiving immediate lifesaving efforts, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after being transported to the resort's medical facility. The Deschutes County Sheriff's Office, along with other emergency services, responded promptly, but no witnesses to the accident have been identified. This incident marks the second fatality at the resort in less than a month. Sheriff Kent van der Kamp expressed his condolences to the family and gratitude to the first responders for their efforts.
