Spaceballs Sequel Set for 2027 Theatrical Release

Mel Brooks, who turns 99 this month, will reprise his role as Yogurt in a newly announced Spaceballs sequel, set for theatrical release in 2027 by Amazon MGM Studios. The film will be directed by Josh Greenbaum with a script by Benji Samit, Dan Hernandez, and Josh Gad, who is also expected to star. While plot details and most casting remain under wraps, original stars Rick Moranis and Bill Pullman are reportedly in talks to return, with Keke Palmer rumored to join the cast. Brooks will serve as producer alongside Josh Gad and Imagine Entertainment’s Brian Grazer and Jeb Brody. The sequel is described as a 'Non-Prequel Non-Reboot Sequel Part Two but with Reboot Elements Franchise Expansion Film.' This project marks Brooks's first significant on-screen role in years and is a key part of Amazon MGM’s push into theatrical releases.
