Two Arrested After Accrington Hit-and-Run Leaves Boy Seriously Injured

A five-year-old boy in Accrington was seriously injured after being struck by a white Toyota Prius on Belfield Road, with the incident occurring at around 5:44 pm on August 29. The driver of the Prius failed to stop at the scene, leading to a police investigation. Two 20-year-old men from Accrington have been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop, and driving while unfit through drink or drugs, and they remain in custody. The boy was taken to the hospital where he continues to receive treatment, and his family is receiving support from specially trained officers. Lancashire Police are appealing for witnesses, as well as any CCTV or dashcam footage, to aid their investigation. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact them to assist in their enquiries.
