Former Super Bowl MVP Santonio Holmes Joins Central State Football Staff

Former Ohio State and NFL wide receiver Santonio Holmes has been hired as the wide receivers coach at Central State University, a Division II HBCU program in Wilberforce, Ohio. Holmes, a Super Bowl XLIII MVP with the Pittsburgh Steelers and a first-round NFL draft pick, brings elite playing experience to the Marauders under head coach Tony Carter, himself a former NFL player. Central State, which went 1-9 in 2024, aims to strengthen its wide receiver unit and overall competitiveness with Holmes' addition. This marks Holmes' first foray into college coaching, joining a growing group of former NFL stars transitioning to coaching roles at historically Black colleges and universities and other programs. Holmes' notable football career includes being a key player in Ohio State's 2002 national championship team and a nine-year NFL career highlighted by his Super Bowl-winning performance.
