Rahul Gandhi Backs Farmers' MSP Demand

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi met with a delegation of farmer leaders from various states at the Parliament House complex to discuss the legal guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP). Gandhi assured that the INDIA bloc would push the government on this issue, citing its inclusion in their manifesto and its feasibility. Initially, the farmer leaders faced entry denial into the Parliament complex, but were allowed in after Gandhi's intervention. Farmer unions are planning nationwide protests, including burning effigies and a 'long march' to demand legal MSP guarantees and MSP calculations based on the Swaminathan Commission's C2+50 formula. The farmers' demands have been a core issue since their protests began in 2020, leading to the eventual withdrawal of three controversial farm laws.
