Telecom Outage Disrupts Over 1,800 Flights At Dallas Airports

A telecommunications outage caused significant disruptions at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport and Dallas Love Field, resulting in over 1,800 flight delays and hundreds of cancellations. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) attributed the problem to local telephone company equipment issues, not FAA equipment, and implemented ground stops that halted departures until late evening. Major airlines, including American Airlines and Southwest Airlines, experienced substantial operational impacts, with American canceling over 200 flights and delaying more than 500, and Southwest delaying over 1,100 flights.
