Millwall Signs New Zealand Goalkeeper Max Crocombe from Burton Albion

New Zealand international goalkeeper Max Crocombe has signed with English Championship club Millwall on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with Burton Albion, where he was named Player of the Year for the 2023-24 season. Crocombe, 31, brings extensive experience from his career spanning Oxford United, Carlisle United, Salford City, Brisbane Roar, Melbourne Victory, Grimsby Town, and Burton Albion, and is New Zealand's first-choice goalkeeper who has helped his national team qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Millwall director of football Steve Gallen praised Crocombe's role in keeping Burton Albion in League One and expressed hope that he would strengthen Millwall’s goalkeeping options, especially with Lukas Jensen sidelined due to an Achilles injury. Crocombe is Millwall’s first signing of the summer, and he expressed enthusiasm about joining a passionate club and testing himself at this higher level.
