The Internationaal Theater Amsterdam (ITA) has terminated its relationship with director Ivo van Hove following two external investigations that revealed a longstanding 'unsafe' work environment and instances of 'unacceptable behavior' during his tenure. Although van Hove had resigned as artistic director in 2023, he remained in an advisory role until this recent decision. Alongside his departure, the entire ITA Supervisory Board will also resign, signaling a push for significant cultural changes within the organization. Van Hove expressed gratitude for his time with ITA but acknowledged the need for a new direction. ITA's general manager stated that the organization requires 'calm, recovery, and renovation' to improve its work environment.
