Tilda Swinton to Receive Honorary Golden Bear

The 75th Berlin International Film Festival will honor Tilda Swinton with the Honorary Golden Bear for her lifetime achievement, to be presented at the opening ceremony on February 13, 2025. Festival director Tricia Tuttle praised Swinton's diverse body of work, noting her contributions to cinema that reflect humanity, compassion, and intelligence. Swinton has a long-standing relationship with the Berlinale, having starred in 26 films and served as president of the International Jury in 2009. She expressed deep gratitude for the festival, which she credits as her introduction to international filmmaking. Notable films in her career include Derek Jarman's 'Caravaggio', which won the Silver Bear at the Berlinale in 1986, and her recent work in Pedro Almodóvar's 'The Room Next Door'. The festival will also feature premieres from various filmmakers, including Tom Tykwer's 'The Light'.
