IndiGo Jaffna to Chennai route

IndiGo has announced the launch of non-stop daily flights between Chennai, India, and Jaffna, Sri Lanka, starting September 1, 2024, making Jaffna the airline's second destination in Sri Lanka after Colombo. This addition marks IndiGo's 34th international route and 122nd overall destination in its 6E network. The new route aims to enhance trade and tourism ties between the two countries, as India remains the largest source of international tourists to Sri Lanka, contributing 25.2% of total arrivals in June 2024. Bookings for the flights will open on August 1, 2024. IndiGo's initiative also responds to the growing interest in travel to Jaffna, as evidenced by over 21,000 passengers flying the route in just nine months last year. The airline's Head of Global Sales emphasized the commitment to improving connectivity and accessibility for travelers.
