Fire Engulfs Savile's Home, A82 Closed

The former home of disgraced television presenter Jimmy Savile in Glencoe, Scotland, caught fire, prompting emergency services to respond with three fire pumps. Police Scotland closed the A82 road in both directions, advising drivers to avoid the area due to the blaze reported around 5:40 pm on February 8, 2025. The notorious Allt-na-Reigh cottage has been subject to vandalism since Savile's posthumous exposure as a prolific sex offender and was previously raided for evidence of his crimes. Plans had been approved to demolish the property, which had become a dark tourist attraction. Savile lived there from 1998 until his death in 2011, and the property was intended for redevelopment by its current owner, Harris Aslam, to honor mountaineer Hamish MacInnes.
