NASA Causeway Bridge Opens Ahead of Schedule, Enhancing Space Industry Access

Governor Ron DeSantis announced the early completion of the NASA Causeway Bridge in Brevard County, with the second of two new bridges set to open to traffic as soon as March 19, six months ahead of schedule. The $128 million project features fixed-span bridges that will enhance transportation efficiency for residents and the growing space industry by eliminating the need for drawbridge openings. The bridges span 4,025 feet over the Indian River and are designed to accommodate larger payloads and vehicles, reflecting Florida's commitment to supporting its aerospace sector. The first bridge was completed 125 days ahead of schedule in 2023 and has already facilitated over 1,000 transports for space industry partners. This infrastructure upgrade is anticipated to significantly improve traffic flow for the thousands commuting to the Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. DeSantis emphasized that these developments position Florida as an ideal location for NASA's potential headquarters.
