Leicester Sack Manager Miquel 10 Days Before WSL Season

Leicester City Women have dismissed manager Amandine Miquel and assistant Amaury Messuwe just 10 to 11 days before the start of the 2025-26 Women's Super League (WSL) season. Miquel, who was appointed in summer 2024 on a three-year deal, led the team to a 10th-place finish last season, their best-ever top-flight points tally, but the club decided to part ways with her after one year amid stagnation in league position. The Foxes will begin the new WSL campaign under the wider coaching team, with no immediate replacement announced, although former Liverpool manager Matt Beard is reportedly a favorite for the vacancy. Miquel's departure marks Leicester's fifth permanent managerial change since December 2021 and is part of a broader trend of managerial turnover in the WSL this summer, with changes also at Tottenham, Manchester City, and Liverpool. The team is set to open their season against Manchester United on September 7, 2025.
