K Ilambarithi Appointed GHMC Commissioner

K. Ilambarithi has been appointed as the new commissioner of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), taking full additional charge on October 17, 2024, after Amrapali Kata's transfer back to the Andhra Pradesh cadre. Ilambarithi brings nearly two decades of experience in public administration, having previously served in various capacities including transport commissioner and director of census operations. His past roles also include commissioner of Guntur Municipal Corporation and zonal commissioner within GHMC. This change marks the third commissioner within six months, following Ronald Rose's departure in June. Ilambarithi is expected to focus on urban development, infrastructure, waste management, and community engagement, aiming for sustainable growth and inclusivity in Hyderabad's urban landscape. His leadership is seen as pivotal for addressing the city's challenges, including traffic congestion and equitable access to civic amenities.
