Indian Tech Executive Amit Gupta Detained in Qatar Since January

Amit Gupta, a senior technology officer for Tech Mahindra, has been detained in Qatar since January 1 without clear charges, causing distress for his family in India. Gupta's father, JP Gupta, described emotional weekly phone calls where Amit insists on his innocence before breaking down, as they receive no information about the reasons for his arrest. Tech Mahindra is in close contact with Gupta’s family, providing support and coordinating with authorities in both Qatar and India, but the Qatari Ministry of Interior has not responded to inquiries. The Indian government has not issued an official statement but sources indicate that the embassy in Doha is monitoring the situation and providing assistance. Gupta's wife, Aakanksha Goyal, has expressed frustration with the lack of progress in securing her husband's release and has reached out to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for help. The ongoing uncertainty raises significant concerns about the treatment of foreign nationals in Qatar.
