Arizona Court Uses AI Reporters for Public Engagement

The Arizona Supreme Court has launched AI-generated reporters, Daniel and Victoria, to enhance public engagement and understanding of court decisions through social media platforms like X and Facebook. This initiative aims to provide timely, accessible explanations of legal matters directly from the justices, thus promoting transparency and public trust. The AI avatars will deliver video content summarizing case decisions, opinions, and other judicial updates, addressing the challenge of misinformation by ensuring the avatars are customized and secure. Chief Justice Ann Scott Timmer emphasized the importance of using AI to reach audiences who prefer consuming news through short videos, enhancing the accessibility of justice-related information. Since October, the court has been releasing news alongside case opinions to clarify judicial reasoning, with plans to expand the AI team to cover broader civic topics. This innovative approach is part of a strategic agenda to strengthen public confidence in Arizona's judiciary.
