Man Hospitalized, Dog Killed in NJ Hit-and-Run

A hit-and-run incident early Saturday morning in Absecon, New Jersey, left 25-year-old Syed Hoque hospitalized with life-threatening injuries and resulted in the death of his dog. The crash occurred just after midnight at the intersection of Highland Boulevard and Marlborough Avenue, where a driver struck Hoque and his dog before fleeing the scene. A passing motorist called 911, leading police to locate and arrest 52-year-old Byron A. Jones shortly thereafter. The Absecon Police Department's Traffic Safety Unit, in collaboration with the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office, is handling the investigation. Authorities continue to seek additional witnesses to the incident. The community has expressed support for Hoque, highlighting his kindness and love for animals.
