Ridley Scott Confirms Gladiator 3 in Production, Alien Prequel Possible

Ridley Scott has confirmed that Gladiator 3 is currently in development following the 2024 release of Gladiator II, which starred Paul Mescal and Denzel Washington. While Gladiator II was successful critically, its box office performance was more modest, yet Scott remains committed to continuing the franchise. Regarding the Alien franchise, Scott expressed openness to making another prequel film if he comes up with a compelling idea, although no specific project has been greenlit yet. Scott continues to serve as a producer on the Alien franchise, including the recently released Alien: Romulus film and the Hulu series Alien: Earth, both of which have been well-received. Alongside these projects, Scott is preparing for his upcoming sci-fi film, The Dog Stars, set for release in 2026. The filmmaker's comments suggest ongoing interest in expanding both franchises, though the Alien prequel is still contingent on finding the right story.
