Florida Man Wearing Batman Pajamas Detains Burglary Suspect in Cape Coral

In Cape Coral, Florida, Kyle Myvett thwarted a burglary while wearing Batman pajamas, detaining the suspect until police arrived. Myvett was alerted by his home security cameras to a man breaking into his truck and found the suspect, Justin Schimpl, rifling through both his and a neighbor's vehicles. Schimpl, 20, was accused of stealing multiple items including two pairs of Ray-Ban sunglasses, cash, a woman's wristlet, and over $500 in gift cards. Myvett, drawing confidence from his Batman attire and his experience in corrections, confronted and held Schimpl until officers arrived. Police charged Schimpl with multiple counts including burglary of an occupied dwelling and petit theft; although he claimed an accomplice, no other suspect was found after a search. The Cape Coral Police Department credited Myvett’s quick thinking and bravery for the arrest of the known suspect.
