MGM+ Renews Stephen King’s The Institute for Season 2

The thriller series The Institute, based on Stephen King's 2019 novel, has been renewed for an eight-episode second season by MGM+. The show follows teen genius Luke Ellis, who is kidnapped and held in a facility with other children possessing special abilities, and Tim Jamieson, a former police officer whose story converges with Luke's. The first season, which premiered on MGM+ to record viewership, stars Joe Freeman, Ben Barnes, and Mary-Louise Parker, with casting for the second season yet to be announced. Stephen King, who executive produces the series, expressed excitement about the continuation, noting the new dangers that await the escapees from The Institute. Showrunner Benjamin Cavell and director Jack Bender highlighted the show's strong reception and the opportunity to further explore the story's themes as the characters face ongoing challenges.
