Jimmy Kimmel has opted out of hosting the 2025 Oscars due to the overwhelming demands of the role. Having previously hosted the Academy Awards in 2017, 2018, 2023, and 2024, Kimmel cited the toll it took on him and his nightly show, 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!'. He explained that the preparation required for the Oscars detracts from his ability to focus on his late-night show, leading him to push other commitments aside. Kimmel also noted that many talented potential hosts are reluctant to take on the demanding job. Despite enjoying the gig and previous successes, he decided it was too much to handle three years in a row. Fellow comedian John Mulaney also turned down an offer to host the 2025 Oscars.
