The World Cricketers’ Association (WCA) has launched a review of the sport's 'broken and unsustainable' global schedule, aiming to create a coherent calendar that allows international and domestic cricket to coexist. Led by former Australian Cricketers’ Association head Paul Marsh, the six-member panel includes notable figures like Sana Mir and Tom Harrison, and will consult various stakeholders to gather insights. WCA chair Heath Mills emphasized the need for clarity and sustainability, noting that players often face difficult choices between national representation and career optimization due to chaotic scheduling. Recent studies indicate that a significant majority of players are concerned about the physical and mental toll of the current domestic cricket schedule. The panel's recommendations are expected to be presented to the WCA board by the end of the year, addressing key issues including global scheduling and funding disparities among cricketing nations. This initiative reflects a growing consensus among players and associations for necessary structural changes in the sport.
