Motorcyclist Critically Injured in Antioch Garbage Truck Collision

A 35-year-old motorcyclist from Spring Grove is in critical condition after colliding with a garbage truck near Antioch on Monday morning. The accident occurred around 10:25 a.m. when the motorcyclist attempted to pass the truck, which was slowing to turn left into a parking lot, and struck its rear. Preliminary investigations suggest that speed was a contributing factor, and the rider was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The garbage truck driver, who was not injured, is cooperating with the ongoing investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. The motorcyclist was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. The crash remains under investigation by the Technical Crash Investigations Team.
